tech news : Shanghai, China - On the afternoon of November 5, 2013, Intelligent and Ubiquitous: OFweek Communication & IoT in Industrial Applications Seminar 2013 is successfully held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China. The seminar is hosted by China high-tech industry portal OFweek and China International Industry Exhibition, the biggest industrial exhibition, and operated by OFweek Optical Communication (fiber.ofweek.com), OFweek Telecom (tele.ofweek.com) and OFweek Industrial Control (gongkong.ofweek.com).

Tang Qiongyan, chief expert of China Unicom Network Technology Institute; Ye Xiaohua, general secretary of Shanghai IoT Industry Association; Wang Junyang, engineer of Technology Center in Schneider; Dai Zhiting, network technology expert of Delta Group; Wu Rong, marketing director of the power industry in ZTE; and Huang Huqing, senior engineer of wireless products in Banner Engineering Corporation are included. Moreover, they interact with the audience to discuss industrial technology trends and market outlook.
(image 2) Audience Wu Rong, senior engineer and marketing director of the power industry in ZTE gives a speech titled Application and Research of Smart IoT. He makes a detailed introduction of current optical network opportunities and challenges. The rising demand for global broadband has boosted the development of optical fiber deployment, thus the newly increased optical fiber accounts for 47% during the past five years. However, the traditional management of cable resources is just to store them to the resource management system as static data. As it lacks of effective data verification and management measures, this will lead to a large amount of optical fiber uselessness in subsequent construction. Labor management mode has restrained the development of optical network. It is conservatively estimated that the resource waste caused by such extensive management of optical fiber will reach 30%.
(image 3) Wu Rong, senior engineer and marketing director of the power industry in ZTE Therefore, how to activate the existing network resources and make full of them has become the focuses. The key to solve this problem is to build visible, manageable and controllable optical network. According to Wu Rong, ZTE will launch eODN product lifecycle management with the idea of "'smart' makes optical network 'easy'". It aims at controlling optical network by using smart ODN system so as to make resource information visible, smart device manageable and optical network controllable. Meanwhile, Dai Zhiting, product manager of industrial network in Delta Group makes a speech named Development Trend of Industrial Ethernet. He points out that it is 40 anniversary of Ethernet this year. With the fast development of Ethernet, it plays an important role in each information technology revolution. In industrial application field, the entry of high-speed high energy efficiency Ethernet technology makes current network control develop into the direction of industrial Ethernet technology from the conventional field bus technology.
(image 4) Dai Zhiting, product manager of industrial network in Delta Group He said that there is quite a contrast between industrial Ethernet and traditional field bus. The newly increased Ethernet nodes were 20% of field bus nodes in 2009, while it will reach up to 42% of field bus nodes in 2015. Ethernet TCP/IP has the largest proportion, which accounts for about 60% of the whole. The good compatibility and is the main reasons for Ethernet TCP/IP dominating the market. Besides it, other industrial Ethernet protocol has a rapid increase and it is estimated that it will post compound annual growth of 15%. After that, Wang Junyang, engineer of Smart Infrastructure Technology Center in Schneider Electric (China) Co., Ltd, delivers a speech named Let Smart City Become Reality. He points out that smart city is a huge system made up of multiple systems, which includes energy, transportation, public services, water, buildings and households. Schneider Electric will provide more efficient, smooth, relieved and convenient solutions for smart city in urban infrastructure, information technology and energy conservation.
